A live football broadcast you run as a crew. One director, five camera operators, one replay operator, and a program feed for the projector.

Everyone on the same crew uses the same code.

How a broadcast works (read this first)
  1. Camera operators frame the action. Your screen shows a red border when you're on air (hold steady!) and green when you're in preview (you're next).
  2. The director watches every camera at once and calls the shots out loud: "Ready camera 3… take 3." "Ready" puts a camera in Preview; "Take" moves it to Program (on air).
  3. Transitions: a cut is instant (used for live action). A mix (dissolve) blends shots. A wipe slides the new shot across. A stinger is the animated graphic used going into and out of replays.
  4. Replay records every camera all the time. After a play, the replay operator finds the best angle, marks IN and OUT, picks a speed, and cues it. The director calls: "Ready replay… roll and take replay."
  5. Program is what the audience sees. Put it on the projector so the whole class can watch the broadcast.
